Jag’s Story

Two decades working with Australian business owners — through the good times and the hard ones.

Jag started his career in public practice, cutting his teeth
on the fundamentals of financial management and
compliance for small and medium Australian businesses.
But what drew him deeper into the work wasn’t the
numbers — it was the people behind them.

He quickly developed a reputation as the advisor you
called when things got complicated. Not just for tax
returns or monthly reporting, but when a business was at
an inflection point — growing faster than its systems could handle, contemplating an acquisition, preparing for a sale,
or facing financial distress that threatened everything the
owner had built.

“Most business owners don’t need
more information. They need someone
who can tell them what the numbers
actually mean — and what to do about it.”

Over 20 years, Jag has worked alongside business owners
across retail, construction, professional services,
manufacturing, hospitality and franchising — through
growth spurts, recessions, ownership transitions and
genuine financial crises.

That breadth of experience shaped a conviction that
drives everything at Allevi8HQ: the best financial advice
is specific, practical and honest
 — not generic, cautious
and covered in disclaimers.

Jag holds a Chartered Accountant designation through CA
Australia and an Executive MBA — the combination of
technical rigour and strategic thinking that allows him to
move between the detailed financial work and the big-
picture conversations that business owners actually need.

He is also one of a relatively small number of advisors in
Australia with advanced certification through ARITA — the
Australian Restructuring, Insolvency and Turnaround
Association. This credential gives him a deep
understanding of the legal and practical options available
to businesses in distress, and the ability to guide clients
toward the best available outcome before formal
insolvency processes become the only path

He founded Allevi8HQ to bring all of this together — under
one roof, with a single trusted advisor who genuinely
knows your business and has seen what happens at every
stage of its life cycle.

Advisory Philosophy

How Jag thinks about advising businesses.

Advisory has a bad reputation in some quarters — and fairly so. Too much of it is generic, hedged,
or disconnected from the actual situation the business is in. Jag’s approach is built around
a different set of beliefs.

01

Honest before comfortable

A business owner’s time and
money are too valuable for an
advisor who tells them what
xthey want to hear. Jag gives the honest
assessment — including when the news
isn’t good — because that’s the only
way to make the right call.

02

Specific, not generic

Generic advice is almost always useless. Jag invests in understanding the specific business, its financials and its context before offering any direction. The advice that comes out of that investment is actually actionable.

03

Numbers serve decisions

Financial data is only valuable if it changes what you do. Jag focuses on turning the numbers into clarity — clear answers to the questions that actually matter to the business owner in front of him.

04

Early is almost always better

Whether it’s planning for growth, preparing for a sale, or dealing with financial pressure — the earlier the engagement, the more options are available. Jag consistently encourages clients not to wait until a problem is unavoidable.

05

The relationship is the product

One-off advice rarely moves the needle. The most valuable work happens in ongoing relationships where Jag understands the history, the patterns and the direction of the business — and can advise accordingly.

06

Accountability goes both ways

Jag holds himself to the same standard he brings to clients. If he commits to something, it happens. If a recommendation doesn’t land as expected, he’s the first to revisit it and take responsibility for the outcome.

“The best outcome for a business owner is when they no longer need me for the same problem twice. My job is to solve it properly — and build the understanding that prevents it recurring.”

— Jag Olak, Founder, Allevi8HQ

How Jag Works

What it's actually like to work with Jag.

Working with Jag isn’t like working with a traditional accountant or a consulting firm. There’s no junior team handling your work while a partner takes the credit. Jag is directly involved — in every engagement, at every stage.

His approach is collaborative by design. He asks more questions than most advisors, because he believes that the business owner always has critical context that changes what the right answer looks like. He listens before he recommends.

He also adapts to where you are. Some clients want a sounding board for major decisions. Others want a Fractional CFO who attends management meetings and drives the financial agenda. Others are in crisis and need someone to take the wheel. Jag has worked in all three modes — often with the same client at different points in time.

What stays constant is directness, responsiveness and a genuine investment in the outcome. Jag’s reputation was built client by client — and he takes that seriously.

You deal with Jag directly

No handoffs to junior staff. No account managers. Every
engagement is led personally by Jag — from the first
conversation to the final deliverable.

Fast response, always

Business decisions don’t wait for the next scheduled meeting. Jag is accessible between engagements and responds quickly when something needs attention.

Fixed, transparent pricing

Ongoing work is priced on a fixed monthly basis. Project work is scoped and quoted before it begins. No hourly billing, no surprise invoices.

One advisor across all services

Whether you need Core, Strategic or TaxAssist — it’s the same advisor who knows your business across all of it. No context lost between teams.

Brisbane-based, available Australia-wide

Jag is based in Brisbane and works with clients across Queensland and remotely throughout Australia. Xero and cloud tools make location irrelevant for most engagements.

Turnaround Experience

The advisor you want in the room when it gets hard.

Financial distress is one of the most stressful experiences a
business owner can face. The combination of ATO
pressure, creditor demands, cashflow collapse and the
fear of losing what you’ve built creates a situation
where clear thinking is hardest — and most necessary.

Jag has been the advisor in the room through many of
these situations. His ARITA certification isn’t just a
qualification on paper — it reflects years of hands-on
engagement with businesses in genuine distress, and a deep
understanding of the formal and informal options available under
Australian law.

He approaches turnaround situations with urgency and
without judgement. Most business owners facing financial
difficulty already know something has gone wrong. What
they need isn’t a lecture — it’s a plan.

About ARITA Certification

The Australian Restructuring, Insolvency and Turnaround
Association (ARITA) is the peak professional body for
restructuring and insolvency practitioners in Australia.
Jag’s advanced certification through ARITA means he is
trained in the full spectrum of formal and informal options
available to financially distressed businesses — from
voluntary administration and deed of company
arrangement, through to informal restructuring and
creditor workouts.

Businesses with significant ATO debt

Working with the ATO to establish payment arrangements, seek penalty remission and develop a cashflow-sustainable path to resolution.

Cashflow collapse under rapid growth

Businesses that grew faster than their working capital could support — identifying the gap and restructuring the financial model before the situation became critical.

Creditor pressure and enforcement action

Managing creditor communications, negotiating standstill agreements and developing restructuring proposals that creditors could accept.

Director penalty notice exposure

Advising directors on their personal liability position and the steps required to limit exposure — before and after DPN issuance.

Post-COVID debt overhang

Helping businesses that deferred obligations during COVID structure a realistic, negotiated path through the accumulated debt that followed.

What Clients Say

What We Stand For

The values that run through everything Allevi8HQ does.

Allevi8HQ was built on a simple belief: Australian business
owners deserve better than generic, arms-length advice
from someone who doesn’t really know their business.
They deserve a trusted partner who is genuinely invested in the outcome.

These aren’t values written for a website. They’re the
principles that Jag has operated by throughout 20+ years
of advisory work — and the standard he holds himself and
Allevi8HQ to every day.

Integrity

We say what we mean, do what we say, and never put our interests ahead of the client’s.

Accountability

We own our work, our recommendations and our outcomes — including when things don’t go to plan.

Directness

We give honest assessments — even when it’s not what the client hoped to hear. Comfortable advice that leads to bad decisions isn’t advice at all.

Urgency

We understand that business decisions can’t always wait. We respond quickly and act decisively when the situation calls for it.

Long-term thinking

We optimise for what’s genuinely best for the client’s business over time — not for the advice that’s easiest to give or the engagement that’s easiest to sell.
